Continuous meeting between Oli and Deuba
Regarding the ongoing discussions between Oli and Deuba, various apprehensions are growing within the CPN and groups including Ram Chandra Poudal in the Nepali Congress.
Oli and Deuba, who had a two-hour private meeting in Baluwatar on Thursday, also met in Baluwatar for about an hour today. Though it is said that they had a meeting on the recent political developments, appointment of officials in the Constitutional Commission and other issues, it has raised suspicions among the groups of both the parties.
Oli had held regular discussions and consultations with Deuba some time ago amid the controversy within the party. After the party went into a state of division, the issue of running the government with the Congress was discussed earlier, which caused a stir within the party.
At a meeting of the Nepali Congress Central Committee held shortly after Udyapi, Deuba clarified about the meeting and discussions with Oli.
Within the CPN, the Dahal-Nepal faction has warned Oli to split the party.
Details of what Oli and Deuba discussed during the meeting on Thursday have not been released. CPN parliamentary party deputy leader Subash Nembang and Nepali Congress leader Ramesh Lekhak were also present at today's meeting.
Participating in the discussion between the two leaders, the leader-writer responded that they had a discussion on current issues.
"We don't know what they talked about yesterday," he said. "Today, the discussion is focused on current issues." They talked in continuation of the previous discussions.
The two leaders have been discussing the appointment of officials to the Constitutional Commission for some time. Based on the information given by the leader and author, no decision has been taken between the two leaders.
"Discussions are going on, no decision has been made," he said. They will probably discuss again. '
The author said that discussions are underway in the Constitutional Commission on the appointment of officials and other issues. During yesterday's discussion, Deuba had suggested to formulate a special strategy on the challenges after the lockdown.
Earlier, Prime Minister Oli and Nepali Congress President Deuba had met on July 30. The meeting focused on the appointment of officials in the Constitutional Commission.
It has not been possible to appoint officials in various constitutional commissions for a long time. There are still vacancies in the commissions due to lack of consensus with the main opposition parties. Even the meeting of the Constitutional Council has not been able to take place.
Another issue of contention within the ruling party is the appointment of various bodies. The Dahal-Nepal group has been saying that the appointment should be made only on the basis of the party's decision.
Addressing a program here today, CPN Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal had publicly remarked that the appointment made by the government outside the party's decision was controversial. Party leaders have been accusing Oli of making appointments arbitrarily without any discussion and consultation within the party committee.
On the other hand, Deuba has been accusing the main opposition party of not being able to protest despite the growing corruption and various scandals within the party. It is almost 5 years since the promulgation of the constitution.
However, vacant posts in 11 constitutional commissions are not being filled. It has also been analyzed that the meeting between Oli and Deuba has been intensified recently saying that the office bearers have not been appointed for a long time.
