Corona among four working at police headquarters, the number of infected may increase

A police spokesman said: "The Ministry of Health will provide the information."

Kathmandu: A constable working in the vehicle management branch of the police headquarters and three others working in the communications directorate have contracted corona. However, the police headquarters has not made public the official information about this. According to high-level sources at the headquarters, the infection is also expected in some other areas.

 

After the corona was confirmed to the constable, 16-17 policemen from the barracks where he lives have been kept in isolation with swab samples for PCR testing.

Similarly, three people working in the communications directorate inside the headquarters are also suspected of infection. They underwent PCR testing after showing symptoms including fever. Despite the PCR report from the laboratory, the results of the three have not been made public by the police. He worked as an assistant in one of the three police messes and brought in the necessary materials for two police messes.

Police spokesperson DIG Neeraj Shahi said that they would not comment on the infection as it would be officially announced by the Ministry of Health. He said that so far 115 policemen have been infected across the country and all those who came in contact with them have been kept in isolation.

According to a police source who came in contact with Kantipur, the driver of some high-ranking police officers is also suspected to be infected with corona. Spokesperson DIG Shahi said that entry to the headquarters has been tightened from the very beginning and arrangements have been made for some of the employees to stay there for a few days.
