12 Ashoj , Kathmandu. President Vidyadevi Bhandari has issued three ordinances on Monday.

Acid and Other Hazardous Chemicals (Regulation) Ordinance 2077, Criminal Offenses and Criminal Procedure Amendment Ordinance 2077 and Nepal Police and State Police (Operation, Supervision and Coordination) (First Amendment) Ordinance 2077.

The Acid and Other Hazardous Chemicals (Regulation) Ordinance has other strict provisions including permission to sell and distribute acid.

Similarly, the ordinance amending some criminal offenses and criminal procedure laws has provided harsher punishment for acid attackers than in the past. Now, acid attack on the face is punishable by up to 20 years in prison.
