The country is getting complicated by the politics of prohibition and discrimination - Former King Gyanendra
KATHMANDU: Former King Gyanendra Shah has said that the politics of prohibition and discrimination is complicating the country day by day.
Wishing good luck on the occasion of the 71st National Democracy Day, the former King Gyanendra said that democracy was not a system of periodic elections and party-specific leaders.
Stating that the soul of democracy will remain intact only in the balanced happiness achieved by every citizen, he said that it is time to review how successful we have been in enhancing the prestige of the country.
Stating that manpower and wealth are unique in a democracy, he said that no one can erase the faith, aspirations, and sentiments of the common people.
He also said that the country was getting complicated as the politics of prohibition and discrimination was started in the country which was formed with the consent of the king and the common people.
