Supreme Court's decision: CPN Officiality to Rishi Kattel's CPN

Kathmandu: With the Supreme Court authorizing Rishi Kattelal's CPN, the future of the Communist Party of Nepal (CPN) led by KP Sharma Oli and Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda has been questioned. The Supreme Court has ruled that the party belongs to Rishi Kattel and while the former CPN-UML and the UCPN (Maoist) are in the name of others, there is growing interest in which party Oli and Prachanda will be.

However, the Supreme Court has ruled that the names of the former Communist Party of Nepal (Unified Marxist, Leninist, and CPN-Maoist Center) will remain the same.

The decision said, "After the two decisions of the Election Commission are overturned, the CPN-UML and the CPN-Maoist Center, which were registered as political parties in the Election Commission, will remain as separate political parties." An order has been issued in the name of the Election Commission from among the opposition to make a decision and report to the Election Commission immediately.
