King was better than the current president: Prachanda
KATHMANDU: Former Prime Minister and Chairman of the CPN-Maoist Center Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda' has claimed that the alliance of the five opposition parties was not formed only to remove Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli from office. He said that the President had lost the dignity, honor, and prestige of Vidyadevi Bhandari, adding that the king was better than the current presidency. "At least the king had a son," he said.
Speaking in an interaction with the editors of various media outlets on Thursday, Prachanda made this claim.
He said that their struggle was for the constitution, democracy, and national interest rather than who would be the prime minister and who would be removed.
"It's not just about making a prime minister and removing one," he said. This struggle is a battle between those who stand for the constitution, democracy, and the interests of the nation and those who do not. It is a battle to save the system or not. An understanding has been reached in all five parties. This is not a struggle for a prime minister. "
According to Prachanda, an alliance of five parties has been formed with an agreement in principle. He said, "Firstly, this alliance is formed on the principle of defending the constitution and making timely amendments, secondly, protecting the basic values of democracy and thirdly, protecting the nationhood of the country."
He said that there was a long debate and discussion between the five parties on how to take this alliance to the next level.
