UK to deploy two warships in the Asia-Pacific region
The United Kingdom has announced the permanent deployment of two warships to the Asia-Pacific region. The United States, Britain, and Japan have stepped up their military activities in a bid to reduce Chinese influence in the region.
"Following the resistance group's move, Britain will permanently deploy two warships in the region by the end of this year," British Defense Secretary Ben Wallace said at an event in Japan on Tuesday.
The United States has welcomed UK's decision. A Pentagon spokesman said in a statement that "we welcome the UK's commitment to an interconnected network of allies that support and co-operate with freedom of navigation and rule of law in the Asia-Pacific region."
According to international media, Valence also said that the UK would launch a Literal Response Group (trained navy) in the future to fight terrorism.
