The Flood Forecast Division has requested the residents of the coastal areas of Kailali and Kanchanpur to stay in high places throughout the day.
According to Divisional Hydrologist Sunil Pokhrel, the Karnali River has crossed the alert level in Dailekh and Kailali after it rained overnight.
The water level in Churiya and Karnali is rising as it is still raining in Kailali. According to the Flood Forecast Division, 255 mm of rain fell in the last 12 hours in Churia and 207.2 mm in Karnali.
The department has requested to stay in high places all day today as it will take time to drain the water from the flooded areas even if the rainfall is less now. Hydrologist Pokhrel said that residents of Bardiya, Kailali, Kanchanpur, Surkhet, Dailekh, Jajarkot, Doti, Dadeldhura and surrounding coastal areas should be vigilant as flash floods could occur today.

As the monsoon low pressure line is close to Nepal, heavy rain fell in many places yesterday and today. Meteorologist Niranjan Sapkota informed that there will be less rain from tomorrow evening as the line is shifting from Nepal.
