Death of a Gurkha soldier (Nepalese National) serving in the Indian border

NEW DELHI: Another Nepali Gurkha soldier has lost his life while defending India's border. A Nepali Gurkha soldier of the Indian Army was killed in a firing incident near the Line of Control (LoC) area of ​​Jammu and Kashmir on Friday morning.

According to the Indian Army, Constable Sambar Gurung, who was stationed in Nosera area of ​​Rajouri district of Jammu and Kashmir, was killed in a firing incident by the Pakistani side at around 1 am on Friday in violation of the ceasefire. Gurung, who was injured in the firing, died while undergoing treatment. A spokesman for the Indian Army's Jammu Command, Lt. Col. Devender, confirmed the incident to Kantipur early Friday morning and confirmed Gurung's death during treatment. According to spokesperson Anand, Gurung is a resident of Gulmi district of Nepal.

This is the second incident in a month in which Nepalis have lost their lives for Indian border security. Earlier, Constable Deepak Karki of Gulmi district, who was stationed in Nosera area of ​​Rajauri district of Jammu and Kashmir, had died on July 25.
