Two Ordinances Against Acid Attacks: Additional Material Imprisonment for 10 Years

The government has passed two ordinances against acid attacks. The Council of Ministers passed two ordinances on the same day as directed by Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli to bring strict laws against acid attack within 15 days.

The cabinet, which met on Thursday evening, passed an ordinance to regulate acid and other hazardous chemicals and to amend some of the Acts on Criminal Offenses and Criminal Procedure Code.


According to the ordinance, even if the person concerned is not involved in the acid attack, it is considered as an industry and such industry will be imprisoned for 10 years and fined up to Rs 500,000.

If the person concerned is not involved in the acid attack, he will be prosecuted in the 'industry of acid attack and mutilation' and if found guilty, he can be imprisoned for up to 10 years. Depending on the damage to the eyes, ears, nose, mouth, face, breasts and genitals, the sentence is 10 to 20 or 20 years imprisonment.


Do the same if you can't hear with both eyes or both ears, if the nose is burnt or damaged, if the face is completely burnt or damaged, if the breasts are burned or damaged, or if someone's genitals are burnt or damaged. It is mentioned that the perpetrator will be imprisoned for 20 years and fined Rs 1 million.


In case of any other mutilation or bodily harm of the body, depending on the nature of the offense, there will be imprisonment for 5 to 10 years and a fine of one to five lakh rupees.


It is also mentioned that if the victim dies later as a result of the same act rather than the immediate death of the victim from the acid attack, there will be a case of death and if there is any effect on the body, the case will be prosecuted as guilt. The definition of acid is also elaborated.


The government has already announced that the government will provide free treatment to acid victims, dedicated hospitals and ensure employment for the victims.
