'Smart' lights started lighting in Lalitpur

Lalitpur: 'Smart' lights are being installed on the main roads of Lalitpur Metropolitan City. The lights have been installed on the main roads of the metropolis in collaboration with the metropolis and Nepal Electricity Authority. 

At present, work is underway to put light poles from Satdobato to Lagankhel, from Lagankhel to Kumaripati, from Kumaripati to Jawalakhel, from Jawalakhel to Pulchowk and from Pulchowk to Kupandol. The metropolis has stated that it is necessary to keep 669 lights. Out of 332 new poles, 108 poles have been installed. Older poles have been used. If there is already a pole in the place where the light is to be placed, the same pole is used.

There are bare wires in some places and work is underway to remove them and put ABC wires, said KMC spokesperson Raju Maharjan. According to him, 1,905 meters of wire has been laid. Smart lights have been lit from Kupandol to Pulchowk and from Satdobato to Lagankhel. In Lagankhel, Kumaripati and Jawalakhel areas, poles are being laid.

Lalitpur Metropolitan City is installing street lights on three routes in the first phase. The first route is from Bagmati Bridge of Kupandol via Jawalakhel, Lagankhel and Satdobato while the second route is from Himalayan Hotel, Patan Dhoka, Ashok Hall and Mangalbazar. Similarly, the third route from Pulchowk to Gwarko via Mangalbazar has been identified.

The work of the first phase is half completed. After that, a study is being done to work on the second phase, said the corporation. In the second phase, lights will be installed on the road from Ekantakuna to Bungmati, Khokana and Satdobato via Sunakothi to Dhapakhel.

Spokesperson Maharjan said that smart lights have been installed to make the movement of the public easy and safe at night. He said that a smart system has been chosen to reduce the cost of street lights in the metropolis and manage it scientifically.

This light will be connected at a lower cost than solar lights, said Maharjan. "A study has shown that this light is much more economical and effective than solar lights," he said. The total cost of the project, including VAT, is Rs 52 million. The metropolitan government has stated that the fee for street lights will be read from the meter and the fee will be paid by the metropolis.

This street light is controlled from the server room with the help of computer. So you don't have to go to the place where the lights are connected to turn off the lights, turn on the lights and reduce the power of the lights, it can be done from the server room. The server room will remain in the Electricity Authority. The light is brighter in the evening but dimmer at midnight. Depending on the pressure of the vehicle or wallet, the light automatically becomes brighter and dimmer.
