Koirala appointed acting head of Nepal Electricity Authority, Kulman's proposal to the Prime Minister's Office

Kathmandu: Minister for Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation Barshaman Pun has appointed Lekhnath Koirala as the Acting Executive Director of Nepal Electricity Authority.

NEA Executive Director Kulman Ghising has resigned after completing his four-year tenure. Minister Pun has appointed Koirala, a senior deputy executive director, as acting chief executive. He has been appointed on the basis of seniority.

Earlier, Kulman Ghising had given the responsibility of acting chief to Lekhnath Koirala in his absence.

Proposal for appointment of Kulman to the Prime Minister's Office

Ghising has left the Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) despite repeated demands to repeat Kulman. However, the Ministry of Energy said that the proposal to repeat Kulman was stalled in the offices of the Prime Minister and the Council of Ministers.

"The ministry has already registered the Ghising appointment proposal in the office of the prime minister and the cabinet. It is up to the prime minister to appoint or not," said Dayanidhi Bhatta, press coordinator for the energy minister.

According to Bhatta, Minister Pun has already registered a proposal that Kulman should be appointed, despite rumors that the minister is an obstacle to his appointment.
