Bangladesh will not join Indo-Pacific Strategic Security Cooperation


Dhaka: Bangladesh will not join any security cooperation under the "Indo-Pacific Strategy" put forward by the United States, a Bangladeshi official has said. 

Bangladesh's Foreign Minister AK Abdul Momen made the government's latest statement public while talking to a group of journalists in the capital Dhaka on Monday. 

He said a White House official had recently contacted him about the issue.

On the occasion, US officials announced plans to tighten security in the Indo-Pacific region. 

"We said we would not even think about it," Momen told UNB, Bangladesh's leading private news agency, on Monday. We are safe Instead, we are interested in economic development and infrastructure development.

He said Bangladesh now attaches more importance to its development. "We are focusing on infrastructure development and our people will be given programs to develop an excellent living system."
