One murder after another in Jhapa

One murder after another is on the rise in Jhapa. Another person has been found dead in Birtamod three days after the murder of Tilak Niraula, a hotel manager in Birtamod.

The hotel operator Niraula was found dead in the Charali forest of Pragati Community Forest at Mechinagar-12 on Sunday morning.

Another murder has taken place in Birtamod as the police could not find the killer of Niraula. The body of Gautam Pariyar, 50, of Kalijoda in Arjundhara-6 was found in a bush near Sugam Petrol Pump in Birtamod on Wednesday morning. Pariyar used to work in a meat shop. Most of the time he lived outside the house and had not been in contact with his family for four days.

Meanwhile, the Birtamod Municipality has expressed concern over the increase in murder cases. The Birtamod Municipality has demanded the police administration to make necessary arrangements so that the people of Birtamod feel safe and secure after the killings.

City Chief Dhruva Kumar Shivakoti drew the attention of Chief District Officer Shravan Kumar Timilsina in a letter saying that the people of Birtamod have become very sad and worried as people are being killed every day.

It is suspected that Pariyar, who was found dead in Birtamod, may have been killed elsewhere. Eyewitnesses said that he may have died a few days ago due to the smell coming from the body. The spokesperson of the District Police Office, Deputy Superintendent of Police Rakesh Thapa said that they received the news of the discovery at 8.30 am.

He said the body had been sent to Dharan for postmortem and family members were being questioned.
