Open international borders should be monitored: PM Oli

Kathmandu: Prime Minister and Defense Minister KP Sharma Oli has said that open international borders should be monitored.

This was stated by Prime Minister Oli while addressing the concluding program of a high-level security training jointly organized by the Ministry of Defense and the Nepal Army at Shree Sainik Command and Staff College in Shivpuri on Tuesday.

The Prime Minister was of the view that arrangements should be made for anyone entering from the open border to show a certified identity card. 'You have to show your identity card at the airport, don't have to come and go by car? Why can't people walk with identity cards? ', Was his question.

He said that in order to ensure our security, it is necessary to know the people of each country and for how long. He said, 'How do Rohingya refugees from Myanmar come here? Is our border open with India or with Myanmar? Did Bhutan have it in the past? ' The Prime Minister said that there was no need to say what anyone was saying. "India has an open border. Is it with Burma? Did Bhutan have it in the past? ' The Prime Minister added.

The Prime Minister argued that in order to protect the country from new types of security challenges, the Prime Minister should be careful not to allow the remnants of external conflicts to enter the country while maintaining social harmony.

Addressing the closing ceremony, Chief of Army Staff Purnachandra Thapa described national security as a shared responsibility of all. "It is believed that this training has played a supportive role in further highlighting various aspects of security and developing coordination, cooperation and amicable environment between the various bodies of the nation," Thapa said.

According to a press release issued by the Nepal Army, the training, which was started in 2072 BS, has been attended by 25 student officers from various bodies of the Government of Nepal, Nepal Red Cross Society, National News Committee, Nepal Army, and other security agencies. So far, 115 people have participated in the training. The Army has also stated that the COVID-19 was organized in full compliance with the health standards.
