PM's request not to forget that we are a child of the inventor's ancestors

The Prime Minister and Chancellor of the Nepal Academy of Science and Technology (NAST) KP Sharma Oli has urged the scientists to move towards invention and research. 

Addressing the 44th Prajna Sabha of Nast at the Prime Minister's residence in Valuwatar today, he expressed the view that science and technology should be developed from a new height keeping in view the present situation and future possibilities. 

The Prime Minister also said that our pace so far has been lacking in enthusiasm, unresolved, no destination has been set and no determination has been made and we are satisfied with what we have. "Those who are in the government will be able to stay in the government. It was just a matter of how to get into the government first and how to survive after reaching the government, ”he said. 

Stating that the country that built the first hydropower plant in South Asia about 111 years ago is now lagging behind, he urged the scientists not to forget that they are the children of the inventor ancestor. Addressing the gathering, the Minister for Education, Science and Technology and Co-Chancellor of NAST, Krishna Gopal Shrestha, said that NAST should focus on developing the talents of scientists in the coming days and move towards creating a conducive environment for scientific research in the country. 

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Sunil Babu Shrestha, Vice-Chancellor of NAST, said that NAST was active in the development and expansion of technology related to the daily life of Nepali society for prosperity. 

The assembly has also decided to set up awards in 12 different categories to encourage scientific research and showcase talent. Accordingly, Dr. Sher Bahadur Pun, Anup Kumar Shrestha, Reshma Tuladhar, Govinda Prasad Pokhrel, and Natikaji Maharjan among others will be awarded. Similarly, the assembly has decided to give awards for scientific work related to agriculture from next year.
