Press Council's action against transmitting 'fake documents', letter to close unregistered portals
Kathmandu: The Press Council Nepal has demanded a 24-hour explanation from the head of the Indian intelligence agency RAW, Samanta Goyal, and Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, saying that the material transmitted on various news portals was misleading and untrue.

The Council has written to the Telecommunication Authority of Nepal to close two web portals that are not registered with the Department of Information so that they can communicate within Nepal.
Meanwhile, police are searching for Buddha Lopchan, the operator of Ujyalo, a web portal that brought out fake documents as an 'unofficial translation' of the secret agreement. A police source said that he was absconding after the fake document went viral.
Initially, the fake document was investigated by the Cyber Bureau of the police. According to a source, the Cyber Bureau has handed over the Metropolitan Police Complex to Kathmandu.
