Congress again extended the deadline to submit the details of active membership

Congress has again extended the deadline to submit the details of active membership to the Central Committee. The deadline has been extended again for the remaining 106 places to enter the details of the active members out of the 207 places being entered in the active membership list software from all over the country. Secretary of the Central Active Membership Investigation Committee, Keshav Rijal, informed that the committee has been directed to update the details of the active members by 12 noon on 25 Jeth and correct any errors.

Stating that the details of the active members were not received even after repeated notifications, Congress had shut down the software to enter the details of the active members from the night of 15 Baishak. The Central Active Membership Investigation Committee has made public the list of 101 places on the website.

Of which, details of 80 places in 45 districts have been made public on 30 Baishak, and details of 21 places in 16 districts have been made public on Saturday. So far, the details of about eight lakh members have been entered into the software. The committee has also requested to contact if there is any protest or complaint in the name of anyone from the place where the list has been made public.

The Nepali Congress (NC) has fixed the date of the 14th General Convention from Bhadra 7 to 10. However, the active membership of lower-level voters for the General Convention has not been decided yet. According to the schedule fixed earlier by the Central Committee, the convention should start from the Wada level on Ashar 5. However, it has been decided that there will be no general convention at that time.

Due to the epidemic of coronavirus, Congress has not even been able to discuss whether to hold the convention on time or move it. After failing to hold the general convention in five years as per its constitution, the Central Committee meeting held on Falgun 6 extended the six-month deadline for amending the constitution using special provisions of the constitution.

Accordingly, there is a schedule to hold conventions inwards on 5 Ashar, villages and towns on 1 Shrawan, regional assemblies on 1 July, regional and regional constituencies on 3 Shrawan, and districts with more than one constituency on 6 Shrawan. There is a schedule to hold the state convention on Shrawan 10 and 11 and the central convention in Kathmandu on Bhadra 7, 8,9, and 10.
