Prime Minister's directive to appoint Kulman Ghising as NEA's executive director
KATHMANDU: Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba on Tuesday directed Minister for Energy, Water Resources, and Irrigation Pampha Bhusal to appoint Kulman Ghising as the executive director of Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA). This has been confirmed by the Prime Minister's Secretariat.
Earlier, the Prime Minister had called on Energy Minister Bhusal in Baluwatar today and demanded the resignation of Executive Director Shakya, an Energy Ministry source said. Shakya was appointed by the previous KP Oli government.
In the last week of August last year, the Oli government did not re-appoint Kulman Ghising as the executive director of NEA but gave the appointment to Lekhnath Koirala, a senior employee of NEA.
After that, Shakya was given the responsibility of acting executive director in place of Koirala. He was later appointed for four years. There is no way to appoint Ghising as executive director without Shakya's resignation.
