Kathmandu: A powerful earthquake has shaken Alaska in the last 50 years. A magnitude 8.2 earthquake shook the region of Alaska, CNN reported.
The quake struck at a depth of 46 km, 91 km southeast of Alaska's Perivili region. Pat Bransus, mayor of Kodiak, Alaska's largest city, told CNN that the current quake was the strongest since 1964.
Brian McColdi, a senior research assistant at the University of Miami's Department of Atmospheric Sciences, said today's quake was the largest in North America since the 8.7-magnitude quake. The quake was followed by two aftershocks.
