The situation of being forced to go abroad will end: Prime Minister Oli

KATHMANDU: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has said that the compulsion of young people to go abroad for employment will be ended. Addressing a virtual program organized by the National Youth Council on the occasion of International Youth Day on Wednesday, he said the government was formulating a strategy to end the compulsion to go abroad for employment within a few years.  

                      

"It simply came to our notice then. It is not a matter of happiness to go out to build the country, 'he said,' but we are working on a strategy to end the outburst of compulsion. We will come up with a concrete plan soon. ' Stating that there is an obligation to go abroad for employment when there is skill and passion, he said that adequate employment opportunities will be created for the youth in the country. He said that the country would move forward by making full use of youth development, employment opportunities, knowledge, skills and abilities within the country. 

He also said that the youth will be used in the field in which they have interest and knowledge as they are the co-passengers of the country's development. "Young people should not have to go out and spend creative time with innovative, knowledgeable and skilled skills," he said. Only then will Nepal become a self-reliant, developed country. 

Stating that the youth could not be used on the basis of development of the country, Prime Minister Oli said that the new generation would now be promoted in research. He said that the government would help the youth to realize their beautiful dreams without disappointing them. He also said that the government was working to achieve the goal of sustainable development by defeating the Kovid-19 epidemic. Prime Minister Oli said that the young generation was needed to fulfill the national aspiration of 'Prosperous Nepal and Happy Nepal'. He urged the youth to prevent and control Kovid-19 and ensure that all adhere to health standards.  

Speaking on the occasion, Youth and Sports Minister Jagat Bahadur Bishwakarma said that the knowledge and skills of the youth would be made productive by linking them with labor. Stating that the country will prosper only if there is youth entrepreneurship, he said that the government is in the campaign to make the youth self-employed and entrepreneurial. He said that the youth in his toll neighborhood should play a role in the prevention and control of Kovid-19. 

Speaking on the occasion, Executive Vice President of the Council Madhav Prasad Dhungel said that every sector would be developed by the youth in a leadership manner. He said that youth innovation centers have been set up in seven states to showcase the knowledge and skills of the youth. He informed that 80,000 youths have been made self-employed this year by providing soft loans. Vice-Chairman Dhungel also said that the formation of councils at the state, district and local levels has been delayed due to lack of new act of the council. 

Speaking on the occasion, National Youth Association, Nepal Co-Coordinator Ramesh Poudel, Nepal Tarun Dal leader Uttam Chapagain and UNHCR Coordinator Ain Mahar said the country would develop only if the youth were brought to the policy-making level. 

This year's day is celebrated under the slogan 'Youth Participation for Global Campaign: Youth Involvement in Employment Promotion and Environmental Protection'. The council had held a virtual program this year due to Kovid-19. To address youth issues, the United Nations has declared August 12 as International Youth Day every year since 1999. Along with this announcement, various youth awareness and entertainment programs have been organized and since 2000, Youth Day has been celebrated regularly all over the world. In Nepal, the program has been organized by various non-governmental organizations working in the field of youth since 2004. The council has been celebrating the day since 2016.
