India in fear says: 'Buddha was born in Nepal, no doubt about it'
Kathmandu: India has said that Nepal is the birthplace of Gautam Buddha. Earlier, Indian External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar had made controversial remarks calling Gautam Buddha a 'great Indian'.
At the same time, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Nepal issued a statement denying that the Buddha was born in Nepal, without controversy, based on history and archeological facts.
Following Nepal's response, the Indian Ministry of External Affairs issued a press release correcting Foreign Minister Jaishankar's controversial remarks.
"There is no doubt that Gautam Buddha was born in Nepal," the Indian foreign ministry said in a statement.
