Al Jazeera's office building was destroyed in the Israeli attack
KATHMANDU: A building in Gaza has been destroyed in an Israeli missile strike. The Associated Press and the offices of the Qatari news agency Al Jazeera were also destroyed in the attack, according to Reuters.
According to Reuters, the operator of the building was instructed by Israel to vacate the entire building. The 12-storey building has apartments and several offices, according to Reuters. The Israeli military has not commented on the incident. But Israel said in a statement that Hamas had used the occupants as human shields and demolished military buildings.
The four-day violence in Gaza and Israel is the worst since 2014. Violent clashes between Arab and Jewish communities are also taking place inside Israel. For years, there have been no concrete initiatives and peace talks to resolve the Palestinian problem.
US diplomat Hadi Amr has arrived in Israel to represent the White House in an effort to defuse tensions. The UN Security Council is set to meet tomorrow to discuss Israel-Palestine. More than 140 Palestinians and at least 10 Israelis have been killed in the violence, according to international media reports. Of them, 39 children and 20 women have lost their lives.
