The government withdrew 120 cases of JSP leaders and cadres

Kathmandu: The government has decided to withdraw the cases against the leaders and cadres of the party as per the understanding reached with the Janata Samajwadi Party.

Government spokesperson Parbat Gurung informed that the decision was taken at a cabinet meeting held on Monday. According to Gurung, the cases of 120 JSP leaders and cadres have been withdrawn. Fifteen cases of JSP leaders and cadres have been withdrawn. 

The government has taken up the issue as per the discussions and understanding between the government and the JSP leadership. JSP has promised to support the government from outside if its demands are addressed. But so far, JSP has not made any decision institutionally.

During the last meeting between Prime Minister KP Oli and JSP Chairman Mahanta Thakur in Baluwatar, it was almost agreed to withdraw more than 200 cases of 24 nature, release political prisoners, form an independent commission for amending the constitution, abbreviate the Red Commission and make it public. Was done. 

There is a dispute within the party over supporting the government. While the Thakur-Mahato faction is making a final deal for cooperation with Oli, other chairpersons Upendra Yadav and Baburam Bhattarai are in favor of removing Oli at any cost and forming a new government with the Congress and Maoists. With 34 seats, the JSP is playing a crucial role in the current hung parliament. Without his help and support, neither the Oli government is safe nor a new alternative alliance can be formed.
