Three more new variants were named Jita, Ita and Theta


Kathmandu: The World Health Organization (WHO) has given three more variants with different names according to the Greek alphabet.

The three new variants of Concern (VOC) are Zita (P2), Ita (B1.525), and Theta (P3). A spokesperson of the Ministry of Health and Population, Dr. Krishna Kumar, said that they are studying the impact of these on public health. Krishna Poudel said.

Earlier, the WHO found the variant (B.1.1.7) 'Alpha' found in the UK, the variant found in Brazil (P1) 'Gamma', the variant found in South Africa (B1.351) 'son' and the variant found in India (B1). 1.617.2) was named 'Delta'.

Another variant found in India (B.1.617.1) was named Kappa. Ministry spokesperson Dr. Poudel said the Alpha variant is spread across 160 countries, the Beta variant 113 countries, the Gamma variant 64, and the Delta variant 62 countries.

"Apart from the first wave corona, Gamma and Delta variants have also had a big impact in Nepal", he said.

Earlier, the Corona variant was known for its origin in the country. The WHO named the variants after the Greek alphabet after various countries objected.
